MOUNT GILUWE AND MOUNT IALIBU CONSERVATION PROJECTS, PNG Highlands
Coraculture is working with landowners who have indicated they would like to have a proper conservation area established in parts of Mount Ialibu and Mount Giluwe in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. These mountains contain special highland rainforest, and in areas extensive tropical alpine grasslands home to rare animals and plants such as the New Guinea Dingo. Rangers will be trained from the local men and women and eventually management plans written for these areas. The project is based in Ialibu.
BOUGAINVILLE CONSERVATION AND AGROFORESTRY PROJECTS
Coraculture is working with landowners on Bougainville Island to produce Conservation, Agroforestry and Land Management Plan for several tribal groups on their traditional lands. Areas will be designated for agroforestry, wildlife corridors and conservation. Areas needing indigenous rangers will be identified and conservation of key species will be a priority.
CORACULTURE AIMS AT NEW RESERVE IN AMAZON AND CLOUDY BAY,
PAPUA NEW GUINEA
The Amazon Bay and Cloudy Bay areas of Papua New Guinea have long been legendary for the incredible rainforest there, and Coraculture is in the process of working towards a new protected area in this area. Rangers will be included and agroforestry projects to give the locals a sustainable income from their land.
CORACULTURE DESIGN CERTIFICATE CURRICULUM UNDER CREATION
A certificate to teach people the basics of Coraculture and designing landscapes in the Coraculture fashion is currently being created. In the future short intensive courses of approximately a week will be offered to train people in the Coraculture concepts. Coraculture Officers will be expected to undertake the courses first, and they will be the predominate teachers of the Coraculture Design Certificates in the future. Eventually the aim is to develop a Diploma level course in Coraculture.
CORACULTURE ASSISTING WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CENTRE AND CONSERVATION EFFORTS IN THE KIKORI-ERAVE-PURARI RAINFOREST, PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Coraculture has agreed to support the Aku Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, in the Erave district. There are countless new animals being found in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, and Coraculture will visit the area in the near future to support the conservation efforts there. The hope is to eventually set up a large protected are in the Kikori-Erave-Purari area.
CORACULTURE JOINS AGROFORESTRY PROJECT IN INDONESIA
Initial negotions are underway for Coraculture to replant degraded land in the Maluku Islands in central Indonesia with agroforestry and wildlife corridors. Community nurseries will be established to provide the seedlings.
